3 Tips to Reduce Seasonal Allergies

While many of us appreciate the start of the spring season, for some it’s not their favorite time of year due to seasonal allergies. It can be so difficult to avoid setting off those allergies and they seem to last for weeks, even months before they subside. We want to help make your home a welcome respite from seasonal allergies and with the right preparation, it can be done! Follow these tips to reduce your allergy symptoms!

#1: Filter

Air filters are the number one defense against indoor allergens. They’re designed to capture dust, pollen, dust mites, pet dander and even airborne bacteria. Just about anything that you are allergic to can be at least limited by quality air filtration.

However, air filters do need to be replaced occasionally so they can keep doing their job. It’s a simple process that almost every homeowner should be able to do. The hardest part is remembering to switch out your filters every month! If you don’t remember the last time you changed your air filters, here’s your reminder to go ahead and switch them out now!

#2: Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is a centuries-old tradition at this point with different origins all around the world! It still has use in the modern age. Doing a deep cleaning of your home can eliminate allergens that have gathered under furniture or in difficult-to-reach places of your home. Make sure you’re cleaning out floor vents, too!

#3: Limit Outside Contamination

This is something we should all be cognizant of due to the ongoing health crisis. One of the best ways to limit allergen presence in your home is to prevent allergens from coming into your home in the first place. Things like leaving your shoes at the door and doing a quick change of clothes after gardening can cut down on how many allergens enter your home in the first place.
